The following observations capture children's mathematical development and in particular can sit under the broad heading of "Calculating".
The observations have been divided into the EYFS development bands. This has been done as an attempt to capture what some of this learning looks like as children progress in their development towards calculating, including written calculations.
Keep in mind when making judgements about a child's stage of development, far more evidence would be needed to build up a profile. These observations are intended solely to build up a picture of what each development band can look like in practice.
